Today the Government announced a £100 million investment into the NHS to deliver millions more appointments. Along with the recruitment of at least 1500 GPs in the last 6 months. Putting in the money and doctors needed to stop the mad rush for an appointment with a GP.

Today I met with LTA in Parliament to speak about tennis and racquet sports. When I was a councillor we refurbished the tennis courts in Newham’s parks. It’s good to continue the work for local accessible sport as an MP. These photos are from the opening in 2023! 🎾

Great to join the Canal & River Trust yesterday for a walk down the well used path alongside the River Lea and Bow Creek linking West Ham to Stratford and Bow (another of the great open spaces we have in east London) to hear about their work & meet some of their team and volunteers

I have joined 74 other Labour MPs and peers in writing to the government calling for the recognition of the State of Palestine. The UN conference in June presents an opportunity, as a step towards a lasting peace.

This week I celebrated 80 years of Christian Aid. Initially started in the aftermath of WW2 to help refugees, christianaid now works to combat global poverty. It was great to hear about all their work past and present.

Earlier this year, I was at Beckton Globe Library for the reopening of the rotunda room. The library is the heart of the community. It’s a place to learn, read, meet, use technology and access help. I’m sure the new space will be as well-used as the rest of the library is.
