I have to say: whenever the Yankees are eliminated from the baseball season . . . well, that's a good day for baseball, and America.

Van Helsing in "Dracula" (1992 version) - "Ja, she was in great pain. Then we cut off her head, drove a stake through her heart and burned it, and then she found peace." I've been thinking a lot about this today, because that's what I want to do with this whole semester.

Saw a dude at Walmart wearing a shirt that proudly declared him to be a "PATRIOT" (in a style like the old GI Joe logo). It also said "Not a Snowflake." I feel like if you have to wear a shirt to say you are not a snowflake . . . you're a snowflake.

Later saw a guy with a shirt that said "Stomp on my flag and I'll stomp on your ass." Meanwhile, he looked like any stomping on his part might trigger cardiac arrest. It didn't help that he looked like David Crosby . . . if Crosby had done MORE drugs during his life.

I think many of us could learn a lesson from Joshua 1. Some of us may be "at rest," with plenty. But the work is not done until all of us are at rest. This is communal work, not about "rugged individualism." Shame on us who are complacent, myself included.

Great words from Rauschenbusch's "Christianizing the Social Order," rejecting the traditional idea that Christianity is just about individual salvation: "the business before us is concerned with refashioning this present world, making this earth clean and sweet and habitable."

Roger Taney: As Chief Justice, I presided over one of the most undemocratic, illogical, racist decisions in U.S. legal history, and helped keep the White Supremacists and enslavers in power as long as possible. John Roberts: Hold my beer.

Your prayers, as always, mean nothing. Empty, and unheard. Because you don't actually have faith. Your "be well, good luck" could not be further from the example of Christ. Shameful, hypocritical coward shall be how you are remembered.
