The Trump administration, mainly through Marco Rubio, keeps saying it will continue to support the PNH and Kenyan-led force in Haiti. In 2024, INL obligated > $80M in security support. In January 2025, $41M. Since Trump took office: $70k in new obligations.

Today, the US appointed Henry Wooster as the new Chargé d'Affaires at its embassy in Haiti, taking over for Dennis Hankins. There remains no ambassador.

Spoiler alert: it's the same path traversed time and time again. External intervention, but surely this time we won't make the same mistakes.
