I turned 18 in 1997, so only spent about 3 years as an adult in this decade. That said just a vastly different world compared to now. Your dollar went further for food, travel, basic fun. Tech wasn’t ubiquitous. People were very care free. You just did your thing.

There was also a real culture back then of music, TV and movies. People felt a genuine sense of collective optimism about the future. Critical occupations we take for granted weren’t relegated to poverty traps. So many industries back then that don’t even exist today.

You also had people who are 99% gone in 2026 telling you how good you had it and how good you were going to have it because they lived through the Great Depression, WWII, and Jim Crow. You trusted them, and they had credibility in that department.

Another time when Jokic praises SGA and the Denver fans act like he’s bad for basketball.
