Shown here out hunting, Straw Into Gold put in another good performance at Potomac on Sunday with a third place finish. The gelding also scored a win at Old Dominion Hounds last month as well.

It can be very hard to teach a horse to be comfortable getting to the base of a fence but you can see Fall Line learning how to do it here. First, he was a bit discombobulated, before becoming more organized. Sam lets the horse figure it out, making for a more confident horse.

A winner on the flat & over jumps during his 12 seasons of racing, the Julie Gomena-trained Le Chevalier won three stakes in his career. One of those wins was the 2021 Grand National Timber Stakes, a race he won by 6 lengths with the third place finisher 18 lengths behind him.

Our Transformation Tuesday this week is of Straw Into Gold, who jumped into his steeplechase training in 2023. A NYTB-bred stakes-placed flat runner when trained by Clement Racing Stable, he won his first race of 2025 at the Old Dominion Hounds Point to Point in April.

Throwing it back this week to 15 years ago when Virginia Minstrel just missed in the Jonathan Kiser Novice S. at Saratoga. It was his second stakes placing in two stakes attempts with the Pleasant Tap gelding winning three straight races before his trip to New York.

Our horses are enjoying summer away from the races, so it's the perfect time to throw back to this video of the steps we take to introduce our horses to hurdles when they first start jumping.

Summers are for trail rides... Sam and Gun For Success led a very fun Piedmont Hunt trail ride on Saturday. It's safe to say Gun For Success is enjoying his summer vacation!

Today we're throwing it back to last November when Afraid Not went two better than her third place finish in the 2023 Marion DuPont Scott Memorial with a 6 1/2 length victory to push her earnings past $100,000 to $108,833.

Did you know racehorses aren't the only horses trained at Over Creek? Here's a throwback to last year when Tayto came to the farm to prepare for his new owner, who hunts with Midland in Georgia.

Hunting season is upon us and that means Robert's fox hunting horse “Shack”, the 17.3 hand Thoroughbred, just got his first set of shoes for the season. Robert has recently become a Master of the Piedmont Fox Hounds and hopefully they will have a fabulous season of hunting.

Before heading out to the hurdles for a school, Point Me By and Sam with Eric Poretz following on Fall Line warmed up with a few jumping exercises as they get geared back up for the fall races.

Once Point Me By and Fall Line were done with their warm up in the ring, they headed out to the field to put in a successful jumping session over the hurdles. Point Me By had a very productive spring season while Fall Line is pointing for his first NSA start in coming months.

It was a bittersweet week at the farm after we sadly said goodbye to Leonie Weber, who had spent July working extremely hard for us and was turning into a very good rider. We tried to convince her to stay and she’s more than welcome to come back any time!

A new addition to the barn this summer, Dream Of Gold is a very sweet and willing mare. Here she is last month learning how to jump as she prepares to tackle a steeplechasing career.

After spending time jumping in the ring, Dream of Gold headed out to the hurdles to get a feel for her new job - something she was very excited to try!

A few weeks ago we had some fun with our Temple Gwathmey Steeplechase Foundation young riders popping over some logs before going out galloping. A couple of good riders!

Throwing it back a few different ways to when Leonie Weber was here helping us in July. She is the daughter of Amy Murray Weber who worked for Julie in the 90’s when they were both eventing. Leonie really improved her riding while visiting us here at Over Creek.

The ground has been phenomenal this summer - even this month - and we've taken full advantage! Here are Gun for Success with Eric Poretz aboard in front of Karl Cares and Ben Sullivan schooling a few weeks ago as we gear up for the Fall races.

Do you love the Cincinnati Reds? We have just the horse for you! De La Cruz has finished 2nd or 3rd 7 times - including a very close second last out. Headed to Julie Gomena for his steeplechasing career, he looks like a perfect candidate for hurdles. Learn more➡️riverdeestable.com/horse/de-la-cr…
