After the great success of 'Influence: 50 Years On', we are excited to be putting together a special issue of Textual Practice based on conference proceedings! Theme: literary influence 📙➡️📗 Guest editors: Lewis Roberts, Jacob Ridley, Roddy HJ tandfonline.com/journals/rtpr20

Again, the same issue here. Piers is wearing generic clothes (no cultural message, lack of a finishing layer, visually uninteresting). Kermit improves on this by aligning the materials (chambray with denim) and using an open shirt as a lightweight layer. Has a workwear vibe.

Conscious that everything I’ve written since the Oxford influence conference last Autumn has been about influence - Eliot’s on R. Williams, Leighton’s on me via Wyatt, Santayana’s on Stevens. Am now writing on inimitability … Amazing when a conference does that!

An upcoming conference on the drab, with a fascinating program, organised by CEMS's own Jacob Ridley and Herin Han — make sure to attend!

New PhD just dropped. 🙏🏼😅 How Protestantism changed the morality play, why Mankind disappeared from English drama, and how the results influenced (and didn't) Jonson and co. Huge thanks to Faculty of English, Arts and Humanities Research Council, and my supervisors, Bart van Es and Dan Wakelin! Everyman out 🫳🏼🎤

My article on John Ashbery and Harold Bloom and their shared love of misprision is now online as an advance article with Textual Practice, ahead of its inclusion in the next special issue, 'Of Influence'. Link below:
