I agree 100% with Alexander Ratner on this one. Moreover, as Alex hints, LLMs are only one type of FM. They are generating a lot of noise today, but they are only one piece of an ever-increasing puzzle, in my opinion. At Merly we also support fully local…lnkd.in/gXxeXQDc

A little video on our new Insights system! With it, Mentor can now do full program repair on each of the issues it finds across entire repositories. With CNCF repos alone, we've exceeded over 1B LoC inference with Mentor. And more to come!

Prof Alvin Cheung is outstanding as is UC-Berkeley (imho)! Strongly recommend to anyone looking to do a postdoc in Alvin's team's area. I've worked side by side with him on many projects (he's not only technically brilliant, but also an amazing Mentor)!

We admit it. For the last two years, our @merlyAI team (with strong Stanford University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) roots) has been secretly building an AI - called Mentor - designed to build better software, including AI software. youtu.be/vWzmJdXNGV4?fe…

Banks assess an individual's lifelong credit history before lending. Why not apply a similar diligence to the code repositories we depend on? Merly Mentor AI is crafted for efficiency, allowing it to scrutinize every line of code over a repository's entire lifetime.

Yep and let's maybe move toward "confabulations" not "hallucinations" for XLM errors? Confabulations are false memories with no malicious intent. Hallucinations are perceptions of something that's not present. LLMs don't really perceive things, but they do try to recall things.

My most enthusiastic congratulations to Prof. Rajeev Alur on being the recipient of the 2024 Knuth Prize (sigact.org/prizes/knuth/c…). As some of you know, my deepest research interests are in the space of automation for software development. What some of you may not know is that I
