Nihan Eda Döken is a third-year photonics student currently in her first year of laboratory work. She is actively engaged in Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations. Additionally, she is working on an ultrasonic distance sensor project.

Şule is currently conducting advanced DFT studies on one-dimensional (1D) chains. Her research aims to explore the fundamental properties of these 1D chains through Density Functional Theory, with a focus on understanding their unique characteristics.

Bülent Mızgalı is a third-year student in the Department of Photonics, currently in his second year at the Cent Laboratory. In addition to performing Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations, he is actively engaged in experimental work.

Utkan is a 3rd-year physics student working with molecules. His academic goal is to study physical oceanography using sensor applications, collecting and analyzing raw data in polar regions. In his free time, Utkan enjoys sketching and working on canvas paintings.

Barış is a fourth-year physics student. In the Cent Lab, his research focuses on the development and characterization of ultra-thin two-dimensional materials.

Meet Yağmur, Her research delves into the fascinating world of nanomaterials, to predict new single-layer nanomaterials and analyze the structural, vibrational, electronic, and mechanical properties of trending nano structures by using reliable DFT calculations.

Abdullah is a fourth-year physics student at the Cent Lab, where he specializes in Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations for novel two-dimensional materials. His research aims to reveal the distinct properties of these materials and explore their potential applications.

Tayfun is a graduate student at Cent Lab, where he is working on Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations for new two-dimensional materials. His research interests include understanding the fundamental properties of materials and their implications for applications.

Doğukan is a senior photonics student. Currently,he is working on tunable magnetism in 2D materials using Density Functional Theory (DFT). Additionally, he performs characterization and analysis with a Raman device. He also takes part in the development of paper-based gas sensors

Ali Cem during his experimental works, he has used DFT calculations, particularly to support sensing mechanisms. He has worked on organic and inorganic (Transition Metal Dichalcogenides (TMDs)) sensor device fabrication for gas sensor applications.

Tugay is a fourth-year physics student working at the Cent Lab. He is studying and learning about density functional theory, and he is currently dealing with molecular calculations.

Benan is a 3rd-year Chemistry student with a keen interest in computational chemistry. She has learned to use Density Functional Theory (DFT) at Cent-Lab and is currently conducting molecular calculations as a starting point. Her goal is to advance in nanotechnology.

Uygar is a 4th year physics student working at the Cent Lab. He is studying and learning about DFT, and he is currently dealing with molecular calculations.

Kağan is a 2nd-year photonics student. He aims to understand the chemical reaction mechanisms of complex molecules, design new materials, and predict the properties of systems that are experimentally challenging to study by learning to perform DFT calculations.

Hüseyin is a 3rd-year physics student working at the CENT Lab. He is studying and learning about DFT, and he is using computational methods to understand the atomic and electronic structures of materials.

Recently, Ali Efe has been focusing on investigating the changes in structural, electronic, optical and vibrational properties in naturally layered materials. His work aims to uncover how these properties vary with the number of layers, contributing to a deeper understanding

Bertuğ is a graduate student at CENT Lab. His work includes exploring the unique properties and potential applications of 2D materials and investigating their interactions with molecules to discover new application opportunities.

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming back our alumni, Kutay Ozyurt, to Cent Lab for an inspiring presentation. He completed his master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of California, Merced, in 2024.
