1/ Many people use the “Debt to Equity” ratio to tell whether a company has too much debt. For example, if this ratio is less than 0.5, debt is “manageable”. But if it’s over 1.5, there’s too much debt. So, the company is best avoided. Etc. Here’s the problem with that.

This paper looks at how companies can adjust to disruptive innovations by seeing which video game companies adapted best to the shift to free-to-play. A surprise: companies with more hierarchy & specialists did much better than those with flat structures. pubsonline.informs.org/doi/abs/10.128…

When someone doesn’t believe in climate change, or vaccinations, we often point to the “scientific consensus” as a way of persuading them. But is this helpful, or does it backfire? It helps! Communicating about there being a consensus has positive effect. doi.org/10.1177/095679…

🤯Because of Excel, a THIRD of all genetics papers published in top journals have errors, as many genes have names like SEPT2 (the official name of Septin 2), which Excel automatically makes dates. The issue was found in 2016, but still hasn’t improved! journals.plos.org/ploscompbiol/a…
