First it'll have to go to panel (the one that decides if it's ready to go to High Needs Panel); it will be rescheduled x2 because we forgot to include new evidence and then the panel chair was on annual leave; your 9th caseworker this year will leave without anyone telling you..

Thank you, Fran for being there for me through all the hard times and for all you have done to support and champion the cause of countless "square peg" families fighting to have their children's needs recognized. Know that you have made a difference! My thanks too to Ellie. Xx

A poignant retelling of the O'Dowd family's dignity and courage in response to sectarian murder & a powerful reminder of the risks we all run from the push to tear up the NI Protocol and disown Brexit agreements. Never want to go back to the days of living in fear of whose next.

@bookstrapCook is right on the money with this critique of healthy food prescriptions plan as part of the govt's 'leveling up' plans. The sheer arrogance of a party that has wasted public money on an industrial scale not trusting poorer people to manage their own food budgets.

"It's down to us as educationalists to change the attitudes in schools, which will then support the communities to attend." Contrast this head's insightful approach to improving attendance, highlighting impact of bullying with MP's 'suspicion' blaming GRT parents. #squarepeg

What does IPSEA want to see from the SEND Review? No need for legislative change, no dilution of children’s rights & entitlements. Problem is not existing law, but – culture in too many LAs that following the law is optional. Proper accountability is needed. #senlawconf

When we frame school refusal as an irrational anxiety, this removes any sense of agency from the child. It assumes that they are only making choices because of irrational fears, rather than reasons which are important to them, even if we don't understand them. 8/

The chancellor should act now to increase benefits mid-year - so that families on a low income get vital support as costs soar. As it is, with inflation at 8% and benefits going up by just 3.1% in April, families will lose £663 of #UniversalCredit this year on average

Yet despite one of the worst tragedies the country has ever seen happening and clear lessons to be taken for how the country should regulate social housing, no legislative change has yet been implemented. We still will have to wait until next year, and likely even longer

Over 30 lawyers have joined us in calling on the Govt to abandon proposals in the #SENDReview Green Paper. Read our letter to the Secretary of State for Education Gillian Keegan: bit.ly/3TQ5ZWZ The system doesn’t need to be reformed again. It needs to be made to work.

No, Tony McArdle. SEND is not a game we play—The SEND system recovery is in the hands of those who crashed it. SNJ's Matthew Keer & Tania Tirraoro FRSA - Special Needs Jungle respond to the Department for Education adviser's Schools Week interview & its pernicious "EHCP golden ticket" narrative schoolsweek.co.uk/no-mr-mcardle-…

Looks like a good plan... Until you hit the need for time-travel. How useful is it to alert parents that the LA will reimburse costs of private EHCP assessments during the summer term of 2023 when this term has just finished? Why no advance notice?
