the decision (60 pages) re: @InternetArchive is abysmal: complete surrender of public good to profiteering! no doubt they would get rid of libraries and the used book market too if they could... all so that publishers can make more money. read it and weep: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…
Damn. I have done a lot of research Internet Archive. It houses much content that is ephemeral, definitely not available through my local library or easy to track down online. Basically I think this ruling sets the stage for eliminating libraries (free knowledge) too.
Excited to do my first-ever outdoor LOST LANDSCAPES OF SAN FRANCISCO show, Friday evening 7:30 pm at Duboce Park in SF, produced by SF Parks Alliance. Come and see cool archival film under the stars (or possibly the fog) and raise your voices! Preshow 6:00 with Peter Hartlaub
Internet Archive It’s massive blow to folks with limited access to public library & will slow pace of research across board for those not affiliated with university. Assumes for-profit is only legit model for digital access. Entitled, anti-democracy, anti-public access. 🥹📚🎥🎶
