This data is part of why groups like International Medical Outreach, SOIL, and daphni are utilizing container-based sanitation. Compost sanitation is conducive to greater health of both people and earth. The tangible benefits are why more and more people are jumping on board.

Converting pit latrines to #compost toilets was one aspect utilized by International Medical Outreach to decrease disease in the #Ugandan Highlands where farmers struggle. But another benefit is harvest time. The first coffee tree is unfertilized. The second one was fertilized with compost.

Sunday's wound is scheduled to be unwrapped in the OR tomorrow. If it has healed sufficiently, he'll be put on oral antibiotics & discharged. If not, he'll spend more time in the hospital to monitor his progress. We're hoping for a good report from tomorrow's evaluation!

After a month in the hospital, Sunday is preparing for discharge! After clearing the infection with antibiotics and debridement, it was possible to proceed to skin grafting. And it looks great with no evidence of residual infection!

Panyango village members took part in compost #sanitation training today before launching their own compost toilets at home. 65 Panyango households, including that of the LC1 chairman, are making the shift to compost toilets in lieu of pit latrines and open defecation.

Both Sunday (Photo 1 in orange with his mother & siblings) and Florence (Photo 2) are now healing “competitively” at home after visiting our wound clinic in late 2019. “We are waiting for who will get healed faster. You will see their wound photos [soon]. All are amazing.”
