I’m beyond thrilled to share that our work on using deep learning to compute excited states of molecules is out today in Science Magazine! This is the first time that deep learning has accurately solved some of the hardest problems in quantum physics. science.org/doi/abs/10.112…

This was a really fun collaboration between experts in materials science, diffusion, and foundation models. Connecting material generation with foundation models (although still loosely in this work) has so many exciting implications!

Attempts at model self-improvement often lead to degeneration over time. But co-improving multiple models lets us maintain diversity and avoid degradation. Hopefully this can be a step towards AI systems with long-running self-improvement capabilities!
