A team from six health-related projects paid a courtesy call to the Health County Executive, James Wangiros, to share a brief on their ongoing Amref Health Africa in Kenya -funded and implemented projects in Turkana.
The representatives, led by Chief of Party for the USAID UAT Project, Dr. Chris Barasa, were from USAID Imarisha Jamii, USAID Msingi Imara, World Relief Kenya’s The Global Fund TB project, and Denmark in Kenya-funded projects – SIWA (a WASH project) and Transcend (a Health project).
Group Antenatal Care model ensures mothers complete all 8 antenatal sessions as recommended by World Health Organization (WHO). In County Government of Turkana, with USAID Kenya funding, we support health facilities to retain mothers and provide knowledge for safe delivery while fostering social support. #Amref4PHC
Mary* says that it is consistency & following the medical advice helped her baby to be HIV-negative after 2 years of prophylaxis medication. With USAID Kenya funding, while working with County Government of Turkana, we have reduced mother-to-child HIV transmission from 13.5%- 8.6% (KDHS).
