Our Director of Operations visits #Ukraine, where millions of people suffer the consequences of the international armed conflict. The scars of the war run deep and will be felt for generations.

On her first visit to Ukraine, our Director of Operations visited URCS, our main partner in humanitarian work. We continue supporting URCS' life-saving work as a first responder. Together, we continue addressing humanitarian needs caused by the armed conflict.

On her visit to #Ukraine, our Director of Operations met with partners in our humanitarian forensic response in Dnipro. This work is key to ensuring those killed-in-action are identified so they can be returned to their families with dignity.

In Ukraine, repeated hits on critical infrastructure result in communities being deprived from access to water and electricity. Our Director of Operations visited Oleksandrivka, where ICRC supports the authorities in rehabilitating the water system, after 6 months of disruption.

Thousands of people need medical care, straining the health system. Our Director of Operations witnessed firsthand how hospitals in Dnipro cope. In 2025, we’ve supported life-saving efforts of 48 health structures —including near front lines—with medicine, equipment and training.

In Ukraine, thousands of families are separated from each other. Last week, our Director of Operations met with a woman in Kyiv who we were able to reunite with her mother, helping her cross borders to do so. In 2025, we’ve helped 187 people make similar journeys.
