April 25 It is the feast of St. Mark. He gave us the oldest gospel, which became a source for the other Synoptic gospels. Though not one of the Twelve, he became a powerful witness. He was dragged through the streets of Alexandria and martyred in 68 AD. St. Mark - Pray for us.

April 27 Scripture "The Spirit told me to accompany them without discriminating" (Acs 11: 12). God was doing something new in the early Church and Peter able to point it out through his vision. Human diversity is not meant for discrimination. Rather, it points to God's richness.

April 28 Scripture The Shepherd and sheep metaphor is a mixed bag. Jesus is the Shepherd but people are not sheep. They are intelligent, they have a conscience, and make moral choices. Perhaps, all the more reason they need to hear the Shepherd's voice and follow Him (Jn 10:27).

April 29 Scripture Jesus: "I did not come into the world to condemn the world but to save the world" (Jn 12:47). The choice to believe his word or to reject them is a real choice. But the fact remains Jesus came to save humanity and not condemn it. He even died to save the world.

April 30 Scripture "When Jesus had washed the disciples’ feet..." (Jn 13:16). How much more should be said about this? Jesus changed the paradigm for religion, for divinity, for humanity, for salvation. The entire world washing each others' feet - the path of human redemption!

May 1 Scripture “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me" (Jn 14:1). How deeply we want to hear these words and cling on to them!! Jesus spoke these words when he had many reasons to be troubled. We may be troubled but we don't lose faith!

May 2 Scripture "Whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it" (Jn 14:13-14). Jesus Lord, for an end to dictatorships, wars, racism, hunger, inhumanity, arms race; for equality & peace.

Sunday Homily - "The Way is the Truth and the Life" The two words – “truth” and “life” – describe not Jesus, but “the way.” The way that Jesus is and shows is the truth and the life. Jesus was not only revealing who he is but also what he does. itemissaest.org/resources/sund…

Homily Podcast - "The Way is the Truth and Life" Jesus saying, "I am the way the truth and the life" does not merely say who Jesus is but also what he does. His "way" - the way of total self-gift to God and humanity is the is the truth and in it is life. itemissaest.podbean.com/e/may-3-2026-t…

May 4 Scripture In Iconium Paul and Barnabas were attacked but in Lystra they were being divinized (Acts 14:5-18). But they knew how to deal with both adversary and praise. They bore the adversaries for Christ and gave the glory to God alone. It is the mark of true discipleship.

May 5 Scripture Jesus' comforting and consoling words were lived in the early church amidst great strife (Acts 14:19-28). When Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you" (Jn 14:27), he did not mean the absence of strife but the absolute assurance of his presence in the midst of strife.

May 6 Scripture "Circumcised according to Mosaic practice" became the most divisive issue in the early church (Acts 15:1-6). In reality it did not matter. But people ignored both Christ's saving work and the movement of the Spirit among them. Legalism & ritualism kill the Spirit.

May 7 Scripture At the Council of Jerusalem, there was clarity that "God made no distinction between us and them" (Acts 15:9). Rather, as the gospel says, Jews and Gentiles need to be concerned about only one thing: “Remain in my love." Distinctions don't matter. Love matters.

May 8 Scripture The Council of Jerusalem mandated: "abstain from meat sacrificed to idols, from blood, from meats of strangled animals, and from unlawful marriage" (Acts 15:29). And yes, there is one more thing. As Jesus says, "This I command you: love one another” (Jn 15:17).

May 9 Scripture Paul put his life at risk by arguing that Gentiles need not be circumcised to come to the Faith. Then why did he have Timothy circumcised? (Acts 16:3). Scripture scholar say it was a strategic move for the sake of gospel effectiveness. It still raises questions.

Sunday Homily - "If You Love Me" John captures all of salvation history in basic human love language. It is a great mystery. itemissaest.org/resources/sund…
