Quite important to note that the next FM needs elected only by a majority of MSPs voting in the final round. That’s how Salmond won in 2007. So, KF, if chosen by the SNP, would be elected FM. Would there then be an immediate 65 votes for a VoNC? I doubt that.

This is a fair take as well, right enough. But an SNP leadership contest in the Spring of 2025 is likely only to make things even worse still for them. Doesn’t mean it won’t happen I suppose.

Whoever is now chosen to lead the SNP on a permanent basis will surely have to lead them in to the May 2026 election no matter how bad their result in the Autumn of 2024?

When will the VoNC take place? Next Tuesday will give the press a field day over the weekend and further expose how today’s timing of the announcement to end the BHA was misconceived by Useless.
