After scouring every sand dune for what-feels-like-forever I’ve finally found the Dune Waxcap (Hygrocybe conicoides) in a south Cornwall dune. What a beautiful creature, well worth the wait!

Toasted Waxcaps (Cuphophyllus colemannianus) looking fabulous on some wonderful limestone grassland 😍 A species with a strong preference for base rich sites. And look at those gorgeous interconnecting gills!
