The only reason anyone would do this is to save. In a year you could save between 15-20k easily, and on that salary put down a deposit for a 5% mortgage on a place that was 300-400k, easy to find anywhere in the UK. The renting is a choice.

this isnt at all my experience. Last time I was in Chicago, it was $8 to use an airport luggage trolley, & the wheels were bust. This pretty much sums up the States for most people - you pay for everything and half of it doesnt work.
