So guess what we are now going to discuss in my year 1 astrophysics lecture tomorrow... this absolute mess of a statement to the Science and Technology committee and the subsequent excellent responses from women in physics #WomenInSTEM

Just a reminder that league tables such as this are based on statistics that have nothing to do with the quality of teaching or chances of a student getting a high quality degree. Equally so the Russell Group designation... it means nothing. The Times and The Sunday Times

Requested an update on why my paper had been sitting idle with a journal for three months after submission and I get back : "I am rejecting your article on the basis of its abstract" This isn't normal right...? Academic Chatterβ„’

As the hourly tweets from UCU and Jo Grady say "every university is on strike" let me just remind you that it's not actually all universities. We are not striking although we do support our colleagues who are. #ucuRISING Students are still being taught (face to face) as usual

I am exceptionally glad that I work at Nottingham Trent University as it's one of the few UK unis which didn't have strike action planned next week. The sudden reversal of @UCU last thing on a Friday seems like a nightmare for all members who have to now teach on Monday or need to sort childcare!

We have managed to get a paper published on our budget planeterella. Worth noting the three authors are an academic, a student, and our technical lead. If you want a school/library/business visit with the kit then let me know on my academic email.
