From abroad, the mass shootings in the US seem like a preventable illness. Two friends in the UK independently told me “if Americans don’t want to fix the problem, I can’t feel sorry for them.” It gave me pause.

The frequency of school shootings in the United States totally baffles friends abroad. They don’t understand how a country, a great country, would allow it, appear to tolerate it and refuse to address it. Some families don’t want to send their kids to study in the US.

The NIT marrying itself to the NET to invite teams like Florida (16-16) and Wash State (17-16) and leave out a 25 win Fordham team is just foolish. A sold out Rose Hill would have been great for ESPN and Fordham has more NIT tradition than anybody.
