In a few minutes, Mayfield plays its first state tournament game in 27 years. Then, it was Belfry. Tonight, it’s Warren Central. Husten Lancaster’s dad and uncle played on that team. Stay tuned.

If this is indeed it for Mayfield, which trails 69-53 with 1:27 left, there are nine seniors and one coach who will go down as some of the best in First Region history — both as players and as people.

Mayfield's season comes to an end, but this team, and its group of seniors will not be forgotten anytime soon. To do what they have done as a small school this year, is beyond superlatives. #cardinalway
