Take a bow Parramatta Eels members. This is the club’s member appreciation round, and Eels membership continues to grow year on year. You’ve helped the club through tough times in the past and continue to do so during the challenges of 2020. Members make it #PARRAdise

So TABCORP presented its FY22 results. Leading the charge is what they have done for the betterment of the racing industry. Perhaps taxing other constituents (eg breeders) who benefit greatly from racing may provide better outcomes, esp for punters who carry all the burden.

There it is. 24.9%. The slow descent towards mediocrity. The only salvation for stock holders will be an unsolicited offer or even an agreed one. Along with a 30-40% price premium. Stay tuned.

This is the outlook. The sense of urgency kicks in only now. The TAB was privatised in 1994. That’s only 28 yrs ago. Reliance on increased taxes to level the playing field (nevermind that TAB decided to go down the retail monopoly path and must now lie in that dishevelled bed).

Graphics in these pics are great. Simple explanation of why racing is being so severely impacted. El Niño vs La Niña (throw in climate change if u must). Triple La Niña is first time recorded this century. More to come ? Or back to blazing summers fast tracks next year ?

Long term interest forecast? Zero by 2066 if rates hold the trend line. Aberrations? Disease (Black Plague and Covid), war (coming!) and govt debt splurges.

Will any senior Star executive be held accountable ? $100m fine + additional potential austrac penalties will be ultimately funded by shareholders. What about criminal charges ? Director barring orders? The whole industry becomes tainted by you guessed it - the top end of town.

This is how low thieves stoop. Steal a dead person’s identity and then attempt to persuade people to log onto a website and obtain compensation payments for a fee of course. More stupid is the same modus operandi is repeated time and again.

Forcheim Germany (30 min north of Nuremberg). Took an evening stroll and came across these farmyard birds (amongst geese ducks and chickens). “Pls explain”required from the suburban farmer (absent at the time of photograph).

Here is the call of the card. Bookie TF % down far left side. 102.7%. Better than BETFAIR. Ticks next to horse names shows best backed horses. A great show.

4 years ago bonus bets (generosities) were running at about 1% of turnover. For 2022 $437m / $9,160m = 4.77%. The implications are enormous. Marketing expenses, bonus promotion, product promo (eg pay 2nd to 5th), problem gambling, interstate competitiveness on racing product.
