"A calculator app? Anyone could make that." Not true. A calculator should show you the result of the mathematical expression you entered. That's much, much harder than it sounds. What I'm about to tell you is the greatest calculator app development story ever told.

The legendary anon, a 15yo girl called Cleo, posted direct answers to integration problems even professors couldn't solve on Math stack exchange starting in 2013. We finally know her real identity and you guessed it, it's a 48yo Uzbek software engineer in America!

saw a chalkboard at the park so naturally, I walked up to ask what’s up turns out it’s a math club where they just hang out + solve math problems and vibe. they were really nice (and even gave me a la croix and sunscreen!) i love sf nerds ☀️🫶

How to prove that LLMs will lead to AGI (in 3 easy steps): 1. Prepare a dataset of math knowledge BEFORE 1500 2. Certify it doesn't include any mention to complex numbers 3. Train the model and ask it to find all roots of x^2+1=0 If the concept of complex numbers ever emerges

the special thing about tech bros is that they are generalists, and i mean this in a way that they somehow manage to hit the dunning kruger peak of every single topic they approach and stay there an impressive skill.
