As far as I'm concerned the damage has been done by the AFL. This whole year they've grandstanded about homophobia being a line in the sand, no pleas entered into, with increasing suspensions. Letting this fake discourse go into a fifth day is treating us all like idiots.

Significant chance this story now dominates (I would argue it could derail) preliminary final weekend, and grand final week. The league could be a not very nice place to be around for many, at a time where the game should be at its best. That’s a real shame.
