Our #Coralpalooza activities wouldn’t have ran as smoothly as they did without the mammoth efforts of co-founder Emma Camp at the helm and Christine Roper and Lorna Howlett coordinating the local acitivities!! 👏🏼👏🏼

Amazing to think that we started Coral Nurture Program just 5 yr ago - exploring whether #reefrestoration approaches could transform into low cost reef rehab led by the #GreatBarrierReef tourism industry. Truly a story about people & their connection to the reef #GenerationRestoration

I have been asked a lot over the last week if restoration has failed based on what is happening in Florida. The 🧵 by Phanor Montoya-Maya sums it up perfectly! If we didn’t have restoration then local extinction would have been likely, but we undoubtably need climate action now! 🪸🪸🪸

Big congratulations to FutureReefsLab MSc Student Rachael Scott on her Stage 3 Presentation 👏 incredible talk on the Cost-efficiency of Tourism-led Mass Coral Re-planting on the Great Barrier Reef! Coral Nurture Program 🪸💰

Future Reefs MSc Student Laura La Motta collecting coral samples from Blue Fish Point for an overnight CBASS experiment at @SydneyMarine, with help from post-doc Lorna Howlett, PhD student Nikki Di Lernia, and SIMS skipper Dean - good luck!! 🪸🌡️

New paper!! 📰🚨Check out our Oceanarium in Marine Biodiversity, documenting a recent stress event observed following heavy rainfall on the "super corals" of the GBR mangrove lagoons 🪸🌧️ Tash Bartels Lorna Howlett Emma Camp link.springer.com/article/10.100…

Kicking off #SER2023 with a fascinating session on #eDNA in restoration and conservation ecology! NatureMetrics

At #SER2023 this week our amazing team of researchers presented their work including Gemma M Gillette Lorna Howlett Rachael Scott and co-founder David J Suggett with further representation by Christine Roper ! We hope you enjoyed their talks. #GenerationRestoration

Go Coral Nurture Program team! Thanks SERestoration for the regional award. Been a great opportunity this week at #SER2023 to highlight the challenges and rewards of coral restoration 🪸🩵

FutureReefsLab & Coral Nurture Program team members have been out this week rapidly assaying coral thermal tolerance to support choice selection in coral restoration. Great work Paige Strudwick Hadley England Christine Roper Lorna Howlett Wavelength Charters 🪸🪸🪸

📢Delighted to share our new paper Global Change Biology! Heat-evolved algae enhanced #coral tolerances without a trade-off against growth 🪸 This novel #symbiosis lasted for 2 years! @spectacularia Australian Institute of Marine Science University of Melbourne 🔗doi.org/10.1111/gcb.16… @PGAFamilyFdn @GBRFoundation #RRAP

What a team!! Amazing science, projects, and people 💙 Thanks FutureReefsLab

Glad to say that our study on the viability of plastic-free alternatives in reef restoration propagation is now published! 🪸🦠 doi.org/10.1111/1758-2… @coralnurture UTS Science FutureReefsLab OMGlab #GenerationRestoration #GreatBarrierReef #CoralMicrobiome 1/3

Excited to finally share the first chapter of my thesis! 🚨 We examined the nature and variability in costs- effectiveness of coral (out)planting over 3.5 years across 5 diverse tourism operations and reef systems of the Coral Nurture Program Program 🧵(1/6) onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/re…

Rejuvenating and inspiring to attend the #ReefResilience24 symposium last week! Lorna Howlett Christine Roper and Paige Strudwick presenting on their research, our progress and future directions within Coral Nurture Program. @FutureReefsLab #GenerationRestoration #OceanDecade
