Early warning for Taiwan quake, instantly broadcast on live tv. Note the time the warning appears on screen and then when the shaking starts much later on. Impressive! US ShakeAlert system will provide WEA alert to cell phones, but not yet to broadcast media directly.

The mag 7.1 quake near Miyazaki is a subduction megathrust quake, and has motivated JMA to issue an alert that the chance of a much larger one on the adjacent Nankai segment(s) is heightened in the short term. If we had a similar event in Cascadia, the response might be the same.
