Horsager et al. present evidence for the existence of two subtypes of Parkinson's disease: 'brain-first', which starts in the brain and propagates downwards, and 'body-first', which originates in the ANS of the gut and spreads to the brain. bit.ly/34OaU59

Today the endothelin receptor antagonist clazosentan (Pilvaz) was approved in Japan based on 2 positive RCTs which showed reduced death or DCI from vasospasm. The first new approved medical therapy for #SAH in over 25 years! Well done Idorsia!

"Apple AirPods sign" 56M.T2DM. P/W vertigo/vomit/ataxia 24 hrs. MR Day2. ? artefactual. Coronal DWI helped. Over 48 hours became quadriparetic. Repeat MR Day4. What is the anatomical site infarcted?  Which artery could have been the culprit?

#Ethiopia’s 1st #neurointerventional/ #Stroke program & 1st biplane cath lab suite is now operational!😊🙏🏽. Our recent patient,42 F w/ “thunderclap” headaches. CT w/ bleeding in the brain. DSA>diffuse cerebral vasospasm, likely RCVS,we started her on nimodipine. She’s doing great.

Endovascular Therapy for Acute Stroke with a Large Ischemic Region pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35138767/ Yes, it had higher ICH but rate of symptomatic hemorrhage (9% vs 5%) was similar! Impressive outcomes w/ mRS < 3 of 31% vs 13% in EVT vs medical management alone! #Wow #LVO #EVT
