Wesley LePatner--a wife, a mother--was murdered in midtown Manhattan. Then a bunch of people on this platform and others tried to make her into a symbol of evil. No. They are evil for justifying murder and turning a human being into a voodoo doll. thefp.com/p/she-was-murd…

I'm somewhat astonished that "ADS-B In" is not nearly universally supported in aircraft after listening to Jennifer Homendy at the NTSB Newsroom hearing yesterday. This shouldn't be hard to do. I could probably use a 10-year-old smartphone in airplane mode along with a $20 SDR

I really wish the "<style scoped>" HTML element took off, as it would allow you to supply CSS with an HTML fragment without worrying too much about it interfering with other stuff on the page.

Most people won't state this so bluntly, but if the choices are: 1) kids sometimes access pornography on the internet 2) a federal ID system to access the internet Then #1 is the better choice.

Seriously. Contrast 1995-2005 with 2015-2025. In 1995, Duke Nukem 3D and Quake 1 hadn't even been released yet. By 2005, we had HL2, Doom 3, and F.E.A.R. with 3D acceleration and ragdoll physics. What did we gain in the last 10 years?

Remind me to donate a ton of money to Tor. I'd just need to do it without getting in trouble for it. I'm not necessarily opposed to age verification, but what they really want is ID verification, and that must not be allowed.

Back in 2009, we had a law related to minimum payments on credit cards because people were apparently too ignorant or stupid to actually pay down principals on loans and would only make minimum payments. We might need this on student loans too.

Some issues with this: AI will likely massively reduce demand for human labor. Remember that in order to get paid, you need something that people with money want. Additionally, we should focus on the formation of strong families, not birth numbers.

We are saddened by the passing of Jim Lovell, commander of Apollo 13 and a four-time spaceflight veteran. Lovell's life and work inspired millions. His courage under pressure helped forge our path to the Moon and beyond—a journey that continues today. go.nasa.gov/41tbrpq

I wish we'd get back to having ethernet ports as standard in hotel rooms. I love being able to just plug in my travel router and have all of my devices (security cameras, phones, laptops, and TV dongles) magically work. I'm currently using a GL.iNet GL-AXT1800 for the task.

Why can't we just assume that all kids browsing the internet are under the supervision of competent parents? I mean, I know they *aren't* under that supervision, but we should assume it anyway and let the chips fall where they may. Don't ruin my internet.

The most significant reason that 18 year olds don't know what they want and can't function as adults is that, up to that point, they have not been given or allowed any responsibility. The rationalization for this is that they "aren't mature", as if maturity magically happens at

The phrase "this is not a dating site" basically made it almost inappropriate to date anywhere other than on dating sites (which are terrible). I get it. There are really sensitive women who don't want to deal with really awkward/ugly men. In the interests of eliminating

Sarah Stock ✟ Hot take: I have traveled fairly extensively, and I hate it. The whole experience is exhausting: the inconvenience, planning the trip, being treated like cattle by government bureaucrats, going from place to place to try and "take in all the sights", the expense, etc- meanwhile

I'm somewhat annoyed by the fact that most people seem addicted to emotional stimulation but find intellectual stimulation uncomfortable. They love getting on airplanes but have no desire to learn how airplanes work. Why is this?
