Chris Anderson Vinod Khosla Yes, I do. LLMs produce their answers with a fixed amount of computation per token. There is no way for them to devote more (potentially unlimited) time and effort to solving difficult problems. This is very much akin to the human fast and subconscious "System 1" decision

Evidently, they seem too hard or complicated to implement for the “root mean square programmer”. Our general question then becomes ... “how many neurons must fire in the head of the programmer to solve the dictionary problem in logarithmic time?” ic.unicamp.br/~celio/peer2pe… 😂

It turns out that different notions of higher-order/synergistic/emergent effects are all just Möbius inversions of macro quantities on different decompositions. I've started to collect some in this table, but please let me know if you find any more! arxiv.org/abs/2404.14423

MLPs are so foundational, but are there alternatives? MLPs place activation functions on neurons, but can we instead place (learnable) activation functions on weights? Yes, we KAN! We propose Kolmogorov-Arnold Networks (KAN), which are more accurate and interpretable than MLPs.🧵

Alright I’ve made enough progress towards my med school goals that I can officially say fuck the tech industry, while individuals have been good to me the industry as a whole has treated me like shit and I’ve busted my ass and given my life to it, so yea, fuck the tech industry

I draw mathematical worlds. These ideas don't fit on the page: They're too abstract, too far reaching, or too high dimensional. To draw them, I cheat. Here are some shortcuts and shorthands I use while illustrating math 🧵
