A Heat Advisory has been issued for portions of western Indiana with heat index values near or above 105 expected on Wednesday. These values will expand across all of central Indiana Thursday. Heat indices will remain near or above 100 at times into early next week. #INwx

Today's outdoor warning siren test has been canceled due to a major outdoor special event in the county. The system remains operational and is available if needed. Testing is expected to resume next week.

If you have to be out on the roads soon, use extreme caution. The rain is coming down very fast, decreasing visibility, and causing water to pond in the streets. Slow down and take your time to arrive safely. If possible, delay your trip until the rain has passed.

Scattered to numerous storms are expected today, with isolated severe storms possible this afternoon. Damaging winds, heavy rain, and localized flooding will be the primary threats, mainly in the 2 to 8 PM time frame.

This morning, Hamilton County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) conducted a full-scale exercise at the Regal Cinema in Carmel. The exercise simulated a hazardous materials accident. Exercises like this allow us to test our capabilities and prepare for real-life situations

From the City of Carmel: Tornado sirens throughout the City of Carmel will be tested today, Wednesday, and Thursday. Residents will hear tornado sirens for up to 20-30 seconds. This testing helps to ensure that existing and new sirens are operating effectively.

Hamilton County is under a marginal risk of storms today into the overnight hours. Damaging wind gusts and heavy rain are the primary risks, but don't rule out the possibility of a brief tornado. Ensure you have multiple ways to receive notifications for weather alerts.
