π₯π Great session at #leverhulmewildfires2023 about Natural Environment Research Council trying to establish a US-UK #wildfires #research programme Leverhulme Centre for Wildfires π₯ Prof Guillermo Rein. π₯ talked earlier this year about how #wildfires are an β¬οΈ threat we have to understand better: ow.ly/Uqgl50PkzjQ

A Hazelab visit isn't complete without a visit to our lab! Thank you so much to Carlos Walker-Ravena, Hafizha Mulyasih, and @AminRikesh for some very firey demos for Fired Up 2023!

At Fired Up 2023 we visited one of the Imperial College London mascots, Jezebel - a 1900's fire engine! Reassuring to know that if a fire starts at Imperial there's always a fire engine nearby π

Just to let you know (π) on July 11th, Dr. Michael Kinsey came to visit Imperial Hazelab π¨π½βπ¬π©πΌβπ¬ π₯ and gave us a talk about how people will behave during a fire evacuation to ensure the buildings are safe. ππ It was really fascinating!

Today Imperial Hazelab π¨π½βπ¬π©πΌβπ¬ π₯ had visitors to our lab from Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council !! We shared our research on wildfires, battery fires, and more π₯π₯

Tuesday, Imperial Hazelab π¨π½βπ¬π©πΌβπ¬ π₯ was fortunate enough to welcome Jens Steemann Kristensen π₯ to present to us his cutting-edge research on PV panel fire safety. Great to see Jens and have him underline the need to ensure careful consideration is made when sustainability innovations are introduced!

Tuesday evening, Prof Guillermo Rein. π₯ presented at Hazards Forum hosted at ICE. Great to hear from him about the work conducted in Imperial Hazelab π¨π½βπ¬π©πΌβπ¬ π₯ coupling London Fire Brigade and Met Office data to explain fire occurrences in the city & what this might mean in a changing climate!

This Monday, we had a visit from Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council at Imperial College London and our lab, Imperial Hazelab π¨π½βπ¬π©πΌβπ¬ π₯. I presented my wildfire flame spread demo to them. For some fun, we conducted a race between the horizontal and inclined cases... I'm sure you can guess which one came out on top! Haha ππ₯

Today, Imperial Hazelab π¨π½βπ¬π©πΌβπ¬ π₯ hosted a visit by Martina Manes from University of Liverpool. It was great to hear about her involvement in EUFireStat. The project aims to harmonise fire statistics in the EU and other participating countries. Really awesome and opens door to data-driven methods in FSE!π€
