We’re working together to build numbers! Students realized we had to work together to put numbers greater than twenty on the tens frame. They discussed how we had 3 tens and 5 ones to make the number 35. #mathematiciansatwork #hayeshawks

I love being able to catch misconceptions as they happen. We had a great discussion about the number 23 and how to represent it! Some friends filled in only one ten frame and during our discussion realized their mistake and fixed it! #hayeshawks

We worked on decomposing numbers today. It’s tricky for students to differentiate between expanded form and decomposing. Unifix cubes really help build understanding of decomposing numbers because they can break apart tens, also partner discussions and gallery walks! #hayeshawks
