Hydrants provide firefighters water supplies in an emergency. Please park responsibly & leave enough room for them to access hydrants safely - Minimum 50cm Obstructing a fire hydrant in an emergency is an offence under the Fire & Rescue Services Act, with a fine of up to £500.

Ever noticed yellow squares with black 'H' & wondered what it was for & what the numbers mean? They're hydrant plates to let firefighters know a hydrant is nearby. The top number is the size of the water main & the bottom number is the distance from the plate to the hydrant.

Please think before you park. We know finding a place to park can be difficult, but inconsiderate parking like this can prevent firefighters accessing emergency water supplies in the event of a fire. Please leave enough space for crews to access and use hydrants when needed.
