“Being different is what makes us interesting. It’s what sets us apart and makes us unique” There was some fantastic mark making and design work on display in Reception today as the children designed their own odd socks. #OddSocksDay

In Forest School Dosbarth Bluebelle revisited a favourite book of ours - The Leaf Thief. After discussing Autumn and the falling of the leaves, we became leaf thieves ourselves, threading the leaves we found to our string as we played lots of different games JonestheforestGSPri

We have so enjoyed playing with our musical instruments in the outside area this week. The engagement, the joy, and not to mention the banging tunes emanating from our outside area was just wonderful. The sun was shining, music was playing, nothing could be better. Gwent Music

Step into Christmas was so much fun on Friday. There was music, decoration-making, tree dressing, marshmallow roasting and hot chocolate guzzling. Such a magical day in Dosbarth Bluebell.

Last week we started filming our Christmas Show narrator scenes. Using the Green Screen, the children will be transported into their artwork - and into the story! All will be revealed on show day - Tuesday 19th December.

Bluebell thoroughly enjoyed the first of our Christmas Art Tutorials today. The children listened incredibly well, followed instructions and concentrated with such engagement. The pride they felt is written all over their faces - what wonderful pictures of Santa!

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone after the half term break. There are so many adventures to come, but here are some highlights from the past half term, starting with Story Dough! We have made rockets, aliens, racing cars, slime cake, and desert island beasties!

Many children in Dosbarth Bluebell have a strong interest in dinosaurs. We invited children to a ‘Dinosaur that Pooped a Planet’ Drawing Club where we discussed space, dinosaur diets and anything else that came out of the children’s drawing.

All the talk of dinosaurs (and their poop) inspired an investigation into what different dinosaurs ate (not just rockets and space cats). In Story Dough children made different types of poop before carrying out an investigation the next day. Which is the Carnivore poop?

Thinking about Dinosaurs has led to lots of model making. Firstly, we learnt about fossils and made some of our own out of clay (along with some pretty funky colours). There was also a lovely opportunity to make dinosaurs out of Lego with Mr Rees.

A highlight of this term was opening our Snack Shop every Friday where children buy their snack using money from class. Before then, we explored different coins, their value, and how to make amounts with different resources and coin combinations.

The authentic use of money in the Snack Shop is a really engaging way of developing our numerical understanding and money skills. The children have loved looking at values and calculating the correct coins to use. Next step: cooking items and turning the shop into a cafe!

At the moment most of us think worms are really yucky. I wonder if our opinions will change as we discover more about them 🤔🪱
