When Archbishop Desmond Tutu's life was in danger during his fight against apartheid he said " death is not the worst thing that can happen to a Christian ". May he rest in peace and rise in glory. bbc.co.uk/news/world-afr…

#DesmondTutu’s faith was not about being nice to people and going to heaven. It was about righteous fury at injustice, and the courage to face down the strong on behalf of the weak.

It looks like Facebook is having problems this morning, which may be affecting the livestream. It is recording, such that we will be able to post the edited version later today. #AtTheHeartOfChristmas

Christ “dwells” in your marriage and he is always waiting for you to open your hearts to him, so that he can sustain you, by the power of his love. Our human love is weak; it needs the strength of Jesus’ faithful love. #LetterToMarriedCouples

Some experienced Facebook problems with this morning's live-streamed service for the Feast of St Stephen. It is now available on the Grimsby Minster Choir's YouTube page. #AtTheHeartofChristmas youtu.be/gAJucpWNoJI

Remembering #DesmondTutu: “I would not worship a God who is homophobic… I have to tell you, I cannot keep quiet when people are penalised for something about which they can do nothing… I oppose such injustice with the same passion that I opposed apartheid.”

“We are all created in the image of God. I have been fighting discrimination all my life. We are all created in the image of God. Black & white & brown. Male & female. African & European & Asian & American. Lesbian & gay & so-called straight. All. All.” Archbishop Desmond Tutu

Today is #StJohnTheEvangelist’s Day. Here he is in a window at Haydon Bridge Church. He is displaying the words of the #Christmas gospel from John 1: “the Word was made flesh”.

And I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year: ‘Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.’ And he replied: ‘Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the Hand of God. That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way.’

This CofE Vicar isn't as fine with it as this headline suggests. By all means watch it if you get chance, cheers on the lionesses- but not at the expense of worshipping the Lord who's victory is eternal, and doesn't reset every 3 years... #WorldCup2023 standard.co.uk/news/uk/london…

Here is the thing that nobody actually says publicly. Many assess @JustinWelby behaviour as narcissistic and bullying. I have been in a meeting where he lost his temper and slammed his book shut. He then said he would walk out of the room if people didn’t treat him with respect.

Whilst not agreeing with some of the particulars here (mainly around safeguarding) Marcus Walker does give us a very robust theological & spiritual critique of our present episcopal culture. It has come to be based on worldly careerism & sycophancy with too much power being held
