Well I got my custom code running on this Western Digital HDD. Also did some debugging and found the lookup table for the vendor specific commands, there's more than I thought

The code for this exploit has gotten so large I decided to break it into multiple cpp files which means updating my custom linker to support linking multiple object files. I had to write logic to handle multiply defined symbols which gave me a funny "I've come so far" feeling

Preliminary tests on the 7200 RPM drive are looking good, boots wicked fast using a "quick-boot" sata connector too
