In case you’re wondering what Russian POWs eat in Ukrainian captivity it’s basically the same menu we get in the army… just with fresher bread. So yeah, arguably better than what we’re eating.

When we got there, the prisoners who do the cooking had just finished up and were cleaning the kitchen before resting ahead of dinner. Not gonna lie the bread they made was amazing. I’ve got a weakness for anything fresh out of the oven. As you can see 🤣

One big green flag? While we were interviewing a POW inside the barracks, another walked in, grabbed something from his cabinet, nodded, and left. No guards shouting. No panic. Just routine. That kind of freedom didn’t exist where I was held.

If I had to sum it up: It’s basically the life of a conscript, with added security. Structured. Controlled. But nothing like what we endured. No torture. No fear. Just the reality of war from the other side.
