What a start to the week! Hartlepool's first ever Stone Curlew, a great find by Ian this morning. A long-awaited addition to the Borough list 👌

So we draw the curtain on the month, easily the worst May in Cleveland ever. Some nice Dotterel, single-observer Ross's Gull and L-t Skua, a handful of passage waders and no passerines. Ringing efforts by Chris on the Headland produced 1 Chiff & 1 Lesserthroat. Grim teesbirds

My second species of woodpecker in Cleveland this year, sadly the best you can hope for now it seems. Lesser Spot long gone and no Greens this year so far....after just one last year. Such a rapid decline 😔 teesbirds

Three Little Stints and two Curlew Sandpipers on Seaton Snook this evening, along with several hundred Dunlin and Ringed Plover teesbirds

Fantastic to catch up with this Black Scoter flying north this morning, my 318th species in the Borough of Hartlepool (from a total species list of 341). Many thanks to Long Nab Birder🇺🇦 for the heads-up 👌
