Two of my bills to meaningfully increase affordable housing, housing near jobs and expanded access to manufactured homes, passed out of committee this AM! They will expand supply and help families, young professionals, and working people! TY to the packed room of supporters!

Missoula, Montana has just: - Eliminated single family zoning - Eliminated parking requirements citywide - Allows 100-125' of height in many of its mixed-use zones with no limits on density or FAR Why is Missoula so much more progressive than Los Angeles?

Big win for affordability. Big win for housing supply. Big win for working people. Virginia Democrats ran on affordability and are backing it up with policies that will make a real difference.

Major transportation projects take years. If we want options like light rail, we must start planning today. Virginia Beach is growing. So is our traffic and our economy. The question is simple: are we planning for the future? Or are we still stuck in Princess Anne County past?

Housing near jobs is the most important housing legislation we could pass. Where metro regions are increasing supply rents decrease and mortgage prices stabilize. This policy will do more than anything else to get units online. 2/ virginiamercury.com/2026/02/06/hou…

Meanwhile in places that are building homes the rent is decreasing. You won’t see a more stark data set that explains why we need housing near jobs.

Virginia should pass polices that build housing. Austin saw rents decrease 7%. Denver, Dallas, San Antonio all saw rents decrease. In Northern Virginia rents are increasing greater than the national average of 20%. In Prince William 34%, Loudoun 29%. The state must act.

People desperately want a solution to high housing prices that does not require building new homes. No such solution exists. If we want lower rents and home prices, we need to build more homes in the places people want to live. Anyone who says otherwise is bullshitting you.

while you're navigating your way around the roads today, remember Gladys West, who did early research that contributed to the creation of the GPS systems we all rely on today. She recently passed away at age 95. She walked 3 miles to a segregated school as a youth, held odd jobs

I know it's across all industries, but damn sitting in Local Government listening to testimony and explanations of bills - idk if "red tape" is even an accurate description. Feels unnecessarily complex & difficult to do like ... anything. #valeg

Getting to yes in housing is important for young professionals, for families, for working people, for our business environment, and for quality of life. The cost to inaction is that people have to leave Virginia to prosper. We should not want that.
