100% of instructional staff Friendship PCS are being trained in the science of reading and structured literacy aligned practices. I got to see first-hand how impactful that is for students. Let's replicate this across the city OSSE DC Deputy Mayor for Education DC State Board of Ed!
In every Friendship PCS Kindergarten through 4th grade ELA classroom, there are two adults during small group instruction and tiered instruction -- all this daily, beyond the Tier 1 ELA curriculum. The best part is that these students are reading fluently grade level!
Last night was incredible. More than 80 turned out for DC’s first-ever Back-to-School Literacy Mixer! We could not be more grateful to our partners for helping coordinate and promote this event: Washington Teachers' Union, AFT Local #6, DC Public Schools, DC Charter School Alliance and the OSSE.
