A chance to experience a drained lock this Sunday. This lock is on the Beeston Canal diagonally opposite our Lock 1, and is the reason the Grantham Canal went to Nottingham - rather than to Lincoln or Newark. The Beeston & Nottingham Canals giving access to the coalfields.

Cormorants can often be seen on Denton Reservoir.

Ten volunteers on site today at Lock 13, with Ralph drawing the long straw, getting the warmest job! We aim to introduce five day working on the restoration of Lock 13 - different team each day. If you'd like to be part of this project, email: [email protected]

After being floored by COVID, I actually managed a proper walk. This has to be the prettiest part of the Grantham canal and look at those colours!

The towpath diversion is now in place at Lock 13. Shouldn't cause too many issues, as it simply diverts you onto the adjacent disused railway track, Sustrans Route 15.
