Exactly, 422 years today, Admiral Levison sailed out of Castle Haven with his tail firmly between his legs. Despite boasting otherwise, Levison came off the worse at the Battle of Castlehaven where he had battled Spanish forces aided by local Irish clans.

A Leper hole at Timoleague Friary in Cork, the hole allowed Lepers from a nearby colony to observe mass and to receive sacraments that were passed out on a spoon to avoid contagion.

Muine Uí Mhothlacháin is our local 'money' placename and it can be interpreted as the thicket of the Uí Mhothlacháin family. It was later anglicised to Moneyvollahane and it is where Castlehaven GAA have their main pitch.
