New paper is out. For navigation, migratory birds use 🌎 magnetic field with a light-sensitive "magnetic compass", presumably located in their retina. This paper confirms magnetosensitivity of the nasal quadrant of the retina and studies its morphology. mdpi.com/2073-4409/11/1…

New perspective paper, in which I suggest that sleep replay is part of a process that train encoders/decoders between the cortex and the hippocampus, queried by low-level inputs. Stay tuned for more studies on this soon... authors.elsevier.com/a/1g1753Q9h2Aq

Happy to announce two new papers out in Nature today! One is on octopus sleep, where Neuropixels recordings shows a wake-like stage of 'active sleep' accompanied by rapidly changing skin patterns that match those of waking behavior rdcu.be/dfAQt
