Investing in downtown public space is vital to civic life, but the trend toward stuffing similar amenities into private developments isn't the same thing. We need to transform downtowns into mixed-use, mixed-income neighborhoods to navigate current trends. bloomberg.com/news/features/…

Honestly think Scene+ app must contain nuclear launch codes. Every second day you need to get a 6 digit authentication code, change anything requires 95 verifications, have never seen an app more unfriendly in the name of security.

I was talking with a friend earlier today who said she felt so much safer walking alone when she lived in Toronto- that Halifax feels LESS safe at night. We agreed that without late night corner stores and other businesses there are no witnesses, no ppl around, hence scarier.

Disappointing big brother move by HRM. Convenience stores are one aspect of complete communities, reduce the need to drive for everything and give kids a safe place to go. Are they loud sometimes? sure, but you think they’re going to be quiet because you took away the pizza??

Two news outlets, reporting on identical news releases - right beside each other on Twitter. Not sure the two posts could be any more different from each other.

Please note our location in Halifax Public Gardens is closed due to flooding from yesterday’s rain. This is the third flood in the building since reopening only a month ago. We are awaiting a plan from hfxgov to address this issue.

Huge shoutout to The Carleton who texted tonight to remind me that I bought tickets months ago for Irish Mythen - fantastic performance in the most intimate venue in Canada!

Thanks John DeMont for welcoming all our new students to the city. I'll say it every year, this is my favourite time of year in the city - full of life and the dreams of so many young students out on their own for the first time. Be Kind Halifax. saltwire.pressreader.com/article/281543…
