Thirty-eight-year-old Daniel Shaw, a softly-spoken social worker, will spend the next four years in prison. His crime? Leading a Zoom call about a climate protest that never happened. via Global Witness globalwitness.org/en/blog/labour…

If the left of the left in Labour have any sense of their own political survival, this will be their Reims congress moment. They're outnumbered, with no room to maneouvre in the party, just like Mélenchon was...

Evidence that whatever one thinks of the current Labour government, the fact that they aren't the Tories offers huge opportunities for the left to put pressure on them on a whole range of issues. That thin election result already has them worried.

Every time you board a bus, or catch a train, you are caught in a web of private ownership. “Public” transport is not public. Why is transport costing more while our services keep getting worse? 🧵 Let’s look at the facts.

predictable seeing some self proclaimed socialists attack Gary over this. In s wales we are now in the fight of our lives to stop reform winning in labour heartlands-presumably we should scream at people on the doorstep, call them bigots? Not engage with them? Unserious children

Good policy. However, the only way to do it in practice is to improve pensions, particularly for the self employed, & ofc raise wages, i.e., stuff away from the housing sector. As long as housing is the *only* way of obtaining any financial security it’ll continue

Describing landlords as offering 'a product that [people] *want* to pay for' is so unbelievably tone deaf. Started interview saying how much social housing they were building. Dugmore explained that it would be less than that lost over same period to right-to-buy. They've no clue

The unhinged reaction of right wing politicians & the media today is a step up from during Corbynism. If you listen to any right podcasts, this won't have been be a surprise. Even more sensible sections of the right have been on a weird trip for a while now. Truly losing it.

Iran strikes are an act of bloody criminality and dangerous stupidity. Domestically they also reveal the truth about Farage: he wants us as the 51st state, a petty satrapy for a decaying American empire and its spasmodic violence. No.
