Meanwhile the people in power call themselves "climate leaders" as they open up new oilfields, pipelines and coal power plants - granting new oil licenses exploring future oil drilling sites. This is the world they are leaving for us.

Future generations are going to shake their heads at how little we were willing to spend to fight climate change. The costs of climate devastation are incalculable, but imagine what it will mean to have 1.2 billion people forced to migrate from their homes due to climate.

In 2009, the UN promised a $100bn annual fund to help climate vulnerable countries adapt to climate change. Only three countries kept their promise and paid their fair share. The UK did not. The US did not. Why should climate vulnerable countries believe a word we say?

Starmer’s opposition to public ownership of energy and Reeves’ hackneyed attack on the “magic money tree” shows that they have no real interest in tackling the climate crisis or inequality. They are propping up, not challenging our failing economic system. Sad.
