Sometimes you just gotta celebrate that you got to lille Lørdag (Wednesday/hump day). Celebrate that you collected some sweet samples the other weekend and they look promising for further analysis.

#thinsectionthursday here’s an (ultra)mylonite with sick delta porphyroclasts and folded monomineralic layers. At the outcrop I thought I was sampling a sheared quartzofeldspathic dyklet but the mineral assemblage says otherwise. Dark layers are full of amph, grt, bt, fsp. 😁😱

Some photos from Thursday night when the sky lit up. The moon had set and yet the nordlys were so strong that shadows were cast. #aurora #nordlys #jotunheimen

Writing a discussion in my paper (no peeking!🫣) and keeping an eye on the hurricane that’s spinning in my SEM-CL map 😉 #thinsectionthursday #structuralgeology

It might not be #thinsectionthursday but I felt inspired to post some microstructures from a pseudotachylyte from Lofoten, Norway 🇳🇴. Coronas of garnet around foxy biotite and coronas of OPX and garnet around olivine in the damage zone. Plagioclase microlites in the PST vein
