If the government of Ghana knew it was going to impose a partial lockdown, why didn’t the lockdown take immediate effect? We simply allowed a 48hr window for people to move with the virus to areas with less restrictions. Prepare for community spread-could have been avoided.

On behalf of the Minority Caucus in Parliament, I wish all workers of Ghana, a happy May Day. May Day represents among other things, a recognition of the key role workers (and human capital) play in the production process.

Our unpreparedness for Covid-19 coupled with weak leadership by Government has subjected the working class (farmers, fishermen, informal sector workers, organized labour and the self employed) to deprivation and a loss of confidence.
