This was one of the first books I remember being read to us at infant school. I can still remember our teacher screwing up her face and saying ‘’ere! Oos been chuckin dirt?’ That must be about 57 years ago!

The wonderful accolades to the late Dame Patricia Routledge rightly praise her portrayal of Hyacinth Bucket but seeing her bring the brilliant Kitty to life (scripted by Victoria Wood) was always an absolute joy. Majestic!

Just watched #Strictly2025 for first time this year. I’m appalled there’s no phone voting. Vast numbers of people are digitally excluded for some reason, especially many elderly people for whom Strictly is a TV highlight . Really thoughtless from BBC Strictly ✨
